Whitman Camera Registration System

The Whitman Police Department is looking for your help in fighting crime by taking part in the Whitman Camera Registration System (WCRS). The WCRS allows residents and business owners to register the locations of their video surveillance systems with the Whitman Police Department. When a crime occurs, police will be able to quickly identify the locations of nearby cameras and enlist the assistance of the community to help officers collect video evidence and follow up on leads. The Whitman Camera Registration System will allow Whitman Police the ability to directly contact WCRS members that are using video surveillance in an area in which a crime occurred. Police may ask WCRS members to check their video footage for a specific date and time that may show activity involved with a crime.

Please read the WCRS Policy and Terms of Use Policy:
Registration is voluntary and there is no cost associated with registration. Registering your camera does not provide the Whitman Police Department with direct access to your cameras. You may request your registration be removed at any time by contacting us using the contact information below. An individual’s personal information will be kept strictly confidential by the Whitman Police Department subject to disclosure per court order. The information you submit may be accessed by law enforcement personnel who are investigating a crime in the vicinity of where your camera is located. You will only be contacted by the Whitman Police Department if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your security camera. Police personnel, if necessary, may request a copy of any video captured by your camera, which may assist in the investigation of a crime.

The goal of the program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Whitman Police Department and the residents and businesses we are sworn to protect. Accordingly, all registered members agree to the following terms and conditions:
